In the funky tradition of dreams come true, Farina got her shot because a Stigwood executive happened to have his car serviced at a gas station owned by a friend of the Farinas. Besides the unleaded gas, he got a tape of Sandy. Impressed, he flew her to L.A. for an audition. “Her voice stood out,” explains Schultz of his eventual choice. “Also, she had a genuinely naive country look that none of the other girls had.” -People Magazine 8/21/78
